Native Of Kirkville Area Dies At Age 76
Elmer E. Parks, 76, died at his home, two miles southwest of Kirkville, at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. He had been in failing health for a year and a half. Born on a farm within two miles of is residence, Mr. Parks had lived in the Kirkville community all his life. He was a charter member of the Masonic lodge at Kirkville. His wife, Ada, survives him. they observed their 54th wedding anniversary last October 26. Also, surviving are a daughter Mrs. Harry Reed of Kirkville and a grandson, Kenneth Reed of Ottumwa; a brother, Fred and a sister, Mrs. Maud Smith of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by a son, Leo, June 20, 1937 and also by a grandson. The body will be taken from the Community funeral service to the Harry Reed home in Kirkville Tuesday at 10 a.m. Short prayer services will be held at the home at 1:30. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in Kirkville, with the Rev. Harold Roberts of Ottumwa officiating. Masonic services will be held at the grave. Burial will be in the West View cemetery at Kirkville.
