William P. Herod 68, died at his home 129 South Moore street, at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had been employed by John Morrell & Co. until his retirement recently. Mr. Herod was born June 13, 1873, at Bloomfield the son of William R. and Sarah Draper Herod. He was married April 14, 1895, to Rachel Caroline Stogdill. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian church. Surviving are his wife, two daughters Mrs. J.W. Noe, Bloomfield and Mrs. Bert Grinstead, Ottumwa, a son Harry P. Herod, eight grandchildren a brother, Bailey C. Herod Bloomfield, two half brothers, Clifford and Glenn Herod and one step sister Mrs. John England, Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. from the Davis Street Christian church, conducted by the Rev. E.L Frost and the Rev. Charles A. Albin. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken to the Johnson's funeral chapel to the church at 2 p.m. to lie in state until the hour of service.
