Mrs. McLeod And New Grandson Both Die
Former Ottumwan Succumbs In Cedar Rapids
Mrs. Walter S. McLeod 55, former resident of Ottumwa for many years died Wednesday night in Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness of months. Ten hours later, her first grandchild the new born son of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. McLeod of Cedar Rapids also died. The child was born Monday night. Mrs. McLeod lived in Ottumwa from 1924 until early this spring. Her, husband preceded her in death January of 1940. For some months she has been living in Cedar Rapids with her son, Robert. Surviving are two other sons, James of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Donald in the U.S. Naval Reserve, Philadelphia; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Martin and Miss Elsie Schnitger of Chicago, and a brother, Henry Schnitger of Los Angeles. The body of Mrs. McLeod will be brought to Ottumwa and funeral services will be held here Saturday, although the hour has not been arranged.

Funeral services for Mrs. W.S. McLeod, former Ottumwan who died Wednesday night in Cedar Rapids, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lester Jay funeral home here. The Rev. Richard Paul Graebel, D.D. pastor of the First Presbyterian church of which Mrs. McLeod was a member, will have charge of the services. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
