John H. Dial 71, retired coal miner, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday after several years of failing health. His home was at 433 West Second street. Survivors include four sons, Carl W. and Bernard Dial both of Ottumwa, and Havlin Dial of Ft. Snelling, Minnesota; three daughters, Mrs. Leroy Carruthers and Marie Dial of Ottumwa, and Hazel Dial of Oakland, California; a brother, Edward Dial of Pershing, and two sisters, Mrs. William Flockhart and Mrs. Hattie Evans, both of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Community Service chapel and burial will be in the Eldon cemetery.
