Gun Wounds Fatal To Thomas Holland
Funeral Today For Retired Special Agent
Thomas Holland 72, retired special agent for the Milwaukee railroad, died of self-inflicted wounds Saturday night. His home was at 173 North Monroe street. he was found shot in the head at the Plaza rooms, 322 1/2 East Main street. Coroner Gordon Traul pronounced the death a suicide. Mr. Holland had been a lifelong resident of Ottumwa. He was born here December 28, 1868. Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. Ralph Anthony and Mrs. Frank Dawson of Ottumwa and Mrs. Ivan Finch of Galesburg, Illinois three sons, Joseph T. of Needles California, W.L. of Amory, Minnesota, and H.B. of Galesburg; two sisters Mrs. Perry Harden and Mrs. S.K. McClung of Ottumwa and five brothers, E.J. of Hazelton, Iowa, Henry and Art of Chicago, and Joseph and Leo of Bakersfield, California. Private funeral services were held at 8:30 at the Vaughan funeral chapel and at 9 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic church, were a requiem mass was celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh, V.F. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Eldon.
