W.T. Vance, Retired Railroader, Is Dead
Worked 46 Years For Burlington; Rites Friday
William Thomas Vance 74, retired Burlington railroad employee died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 701 North Jefferson street. He was born in Indianola, August 26, 1866, the son of Eli and Emily Vance. He was married to Bertha E. Norris at Grant City, Missouri, September 20, 1892. Mr. Vance worked for the Burlington for 46 years, retiring November 1, 1934. He was member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Margret Adkins, Waukegan, Illinois; son James E. Vance of San Antonio, Texas, and a granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Adkins Waukegan. The body is at the Carroll Reece funeral home where services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday in (obit cutoff)
Funeral services for W.T. Vance who died Wednesday at his home, 701 North Jefferson street, will be held at 8'oclock; this evening at the Carroll Reece funeral home. the Rev. J.B. Johnson of the Wesley Methodist church will be in charge. The body will be taken overland Saturday morning to the Mt. Ayr for burial.
