Heston G. Simmons, 66, died at his home, 1052 South Weller street, at 12:27 p.m. Friday. He was the son of Myron and Lenora Simmons and was born at Osceola, December 22, 1874. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for 60 years. Mr. Simmons was employed for 19 years at the John Morrell & Co. He was retired in April of this year. He was married to Myrtle Davis on October 22, 1895. She preceded him in death, in 1943. He remarried to Lettie Sands, November 1936. She survives him. He is also survived by two sons, Heston D. and Ralph C. Simmons, of Ottumwa; three daughters Mrs. Cora Grear, Ottumwa , Mrs. Pearl Gordon, Newton and Mrs. Anna Martin, Ottumwa; four sisters, Mrs. Inez Coffelt, Goldendale, Washington, Mrs. Hattie Putnam, Chicago, Mrs. Gertrude Hobbs, Spokane, and Mrs. Hazel Hurd, Ottumwa; four stepchildren, R.F. Sands, Mrs. Harold White, Mrs. Fern Carnes and Kenneth Sands, all of Ottumwa, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. I.E. Welshons of the Open Bible church will be in charge. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken in the residence at 5 p.m. today , and returned to the chapel for services Sunday. Pallbearers will be Roy Sands, J.H. Covert, Arlo Covert, Harold Clark,. William Heckart, and Clarence Carnes.
