Mrs. Eva Hicks Dies At Age 79
Mrs. Eva Hicks 79, of 418 Vernon avenue, died at her home at 3 p.m. Wednesday. She was the daughter of Wallace and Ida Woodward, born August 1, 1861, at Beloit, Wisconsin. She had lived in Ottumwa for the past 26 years. Surviving are a son, Claud of Galesburg, Illinois; four daughters, Mrs. Vera Powell, Ottumwa, Mrs. Elizabeth Malone, Huntsville, Missouri, Mrs. Goldia Shoup, Ottumwa and Mrs. Wilma Miller, Melcher. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Hicks was member of Wesley Methodist church, a charter member of the Golden Rule chapter No. 52, Order of the Easter Star, of Bucklin, Missouri. Short services will be held from the residence at 1:30 p.m. Friday, and at 2 p.m. from the Wesley Methodist church. The Rev. J.B. Johnson will be in charge. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Ottumwa chapter No. 112 O.E.S will hold services at the grave. The casket will be taken from Johson's funeral chapel to the residence this evening.
