Veteran Burlington Engineer Is Dead
Services Sunday For David Farquhar, 61.
David Farquhar, 61, of 1806 East Main street, died at his home Thursday at 1:55 p.m. A veteran employee of the Burlington railroad, he had been an engineer for the last quarter of a century. Mr. Farquhar was the son of Thomas an Esther Caroline Farquhar, born in Wayne county April 4, 1880. He had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1905. He was a member of the Burlington Veterans association and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, local No. 643. Surviving are his wife, Grace; two sons, Duane and William both of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Crable and Mrs. Lera Steele, both of Ottumwa; two sisters, Miss Judith Farquhar, Glenwood and Mrs. Bert Bishop, Laramie, Wyoming; four stepsons, Richard, Hallard, Virgil and Norman Spurgeon, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Leo I. Best of Ottumwa will be in charge. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn cemetery. Engineers of the Burlington railroad will serve as pallbearers. The casket will be taken to the residence today and will be returned to the chapel at noon Sunday.
