Mrs. Mary B. Brooks, 84, died at her home, 603 East Second street today at 6:30 a.m. Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of Ike and Emily Thompson and was born in Ohio December 18, 1856. She had lived in Ottumwa for the last 19 years. Surviving are brother, Grant Thompson in Alberta, Canada, and Willoughby Thompson, stepson the Rev Clarence Brooks of Atwood, Kansas; stepdaughter Mrs. Effie Clarke of Lincoln, Nebraska and nine grandchildren, Mrs. Henry Shepherd, Holly and Lee Barnett of Ottumwa, Mrs. Ethel York of West Grove, Mrs. Gladys Dabney of Bloomfield, Mrs. Helen Whisler and Leslie Barnett of Bunch, Albert Barnett of Washington and Prentice of Los Angeles California. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Brooks, January 6, 1941, and by two daughters, Estella Mabely and Winnie Barnett. Services for Mrs. Mary B. Brooks who died at her home, 603 East Second street, Friday will be held in Johnson's funeral chapel Monday at 3:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. E.M. Boyer. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
