Charles August Bloomquist, 73, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P.D. Wells, 344 North Moore street, today at 6:45 a.m. He was the son of Andrew and Hedwig Bloomquist and was born in Odeso, Sweden, January 13, 1868. He came to the United States in 1877, settling in Illinois. He moved to Fairfield 37 years and came to Ottumwa 17 years ago. He retired from the employ of John Morrell & Co. one year ago after 16 years of service. Mr. Bloomquist was a member of the First Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Christine; daughters, Mrs. Ida Payne and Mrs. Mary Headley of Fairfield and Mrs. Teckla Wills and Miss Eva Bloomquist of Ottumwa; sons, Michael, Jesse, Bert, John, Earl and Robert Bloomquist of Ottumwa; Alex Bloomquist of Agency and Carl Bllomquist of Fairfield, 18 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Charles Haiston of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by three daughters and two sons. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by L.K. Anderson pastor's assistant at the First Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Union cemetery, nine miles southeast of Fairfield.
