George B. Hamilton Dies At Age of 78
George B. Hamilton, 78 of 422 West Second street, died Thursday at 11:30 p.m.
He was the son of John and Permelia Hamilton and was born January 16, 1862, near Frankfort, Kentucky. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the last 21 years. Mr. Hamilton was married October 16, 1886, to Miss Ida Elizabeth Streeter at Princeton Missouri. She died May 22, 1940. Surviving are children, Mrs. Eugene Drake of Lineville, A.L Hamilton of Sioux City, W.E. Hamilton of Ft. Myers Florida, R.M. Hamilton of Joplin, Mrs. Scott Varney, Mrs. Ciella Hardesty and Mrs. Madge Howell of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, William of Canada, and sister, Mrs. Henrietta George of Jameson Missouri; half-sister, Mrs. Francis Corder of Lineville, and half brother Thomas H. Prather of Ravanna Missouri. He was preceded in death by a son, Morris McClellan in infancy. Mr. Hamilton had been employed at John Morrell & Co. for the last 20 years. Services for George R. Hamilton, who died Thursday at his home 422 West Second street, will be held in Johnson's funeral chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. A.D. McClure pastor of the Pentecostal church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Among survivors are half brothers, Thomas H. Prather of Ottumwa, Lloyd Prather of Linden, Missouri and Callie Prather of Ravanna, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Ray Orman, Neil Simmons, Lester Hobbs, Alfred Mooney, Dick Barnett and Paul Gail.
