R. H. McElroy Of Eldon Succumbs Today
Ralph Huston McElroy, 54, former Ottumwa plumber, died at 10:50 a.m. today at his home, 301 Third street, in Eldon. He was the son of Henry and Ina McElroy and was born near Martinsburg. For most of his life he had been a resident in or near Ottumwa, having moved to Eldon only last October. Mrs. McElroy preceded her husband in death, September 16, 1940. Three children, Emma May, Clara and Clarence also preceded their father in death. Surviving are 11 children; Mrs. Dorothy Black and Mrs. Cleo Young of Ottumwa, Boyd, Rex, and Paul all of Ottumwa, Mary, Betty, Max, Russell, Marion and Ralph Jr. all at home. Two brothers and two sisters, Clyde McElroy of Waterloo, Raymond McElroy of Ottumwa, Mrs. Blanche Ruggles of Ottumwa and Mrs. Bernice Rodberg of West Palm Beach, Florida also survive along with 18 grandchildren. The body has been brought here to the Johnson funeral chapel. Services for R. H. McElroy, who died at his home in Eldon Tuesday, will be held in Johnson's funeral chapel Thursday at 1:30 p. m. conducted by the Rev. C. A. Longton, pastor of the Church of God. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
