Ellouise Hobbs

OTTUMWA – Ellouise Hobbs, 87, of 118 S. Union died at 1:32 p.m. Feb. 6, 2005 at The Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born May 5, 1917 in Farson to Allia Burton and Della Mabel Gossage Duckworth.

She married Milan H. “Jim" Hobbs Aug. 19. 1934. He preceded her in death May 31, 1972 [sic - Milan died May 29, 1972, in Bell Gardens, California].

She had lived in Ottumwa until I960, when she moved to Commerce. Calif., living there for 40 years. She then moved to McKinney, Texas, returning to Ottumwa in 2001.

She had worked at the Dixie Shop in Ottumwa and The Candle Factory in Hollydale, Calif.

She was a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God in Ottumwa and attended Bethlehem Christian Church near Floris.

Surviving is a daughter, Joyce Saner of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Hobbs, a brother, Doug LeGrande and a sister Alleen Steele.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Friend officiating.

Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
