May 24, 1962Emil D. Bogaerts, 77, of 715 S. Moore died Wednesday at 9 p.m. at the Ideal Rest Home at 309 Richmond. He had been in ill health for several months.
Mr. Bogaerts was a retired coal miner. He was born in Belgium April 5, 1885, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Van Buren Bogaerts. He came to the United State in 1908 and had lived in Illinois and Lucas County prior to moving to Ottumwa in 1942.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; one son, Jack Bogaerts in Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Zella Christopher* in Illinois and Mrs. Joyce Shoemaker of Holyoke, Mass.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother and two sisters in Belgium.
He was preceded in death by five sons, two daughters, and two brothers.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. John J. Collins, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
*NOTE: Daughter's name was Zella Bocquillon, not Christopher, she lived in Christopher, IL
