Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, March 15, 1971:
Albert B. Brumbaugh, 54, of 2517 E. Main, died today at 12:47 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospital, following an illness of 18 months.
He had been an employ of Barker Poultry Equipment Co. for the past 14 years.
He was born Dec. 30, 1916 in Lewistown, Mo., the son of George and Della Cooper Brumbaugh. He had been a resident of Ottumwa most of his life and was a member of United Steel Workers of America, Local No. 7194, and the Local American Legion and VFW posts.
He was an Army overseas veteran of World War II. He entered the service on July 10, 1944 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and was discharged Dec. 11, 1945 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.
He married Stella J. Ptaff on June 14, 1969 in Lancaster, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Albert L. Brumbaugh of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kempf of Ottumwa and Mrs. Vickie Welsh of Rock Island, Ill.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Shaw of Ottumwa; 16 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Della Brumbaugh of Ottumwa; five brothers, Earl Brumbaugh of Lancaster, Mo., Dewey Brumbaugh of Kirksville, Mo., Charles Brumbaugh of Eddyville, Leonard Brumbaugh of Ottumwa; and Ralph Brumbaugh of Council Bluffs; seven sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey, Mrs. Willa Chatterton, Mrs. Tina Simmons, and Miss Georgie Brumbaugh, all of Ottumwa; Mrs. Clover Stein of Montrose, Mrs. Stella Shannon of Kahoka, Mo., and Mrs. Gladys Patrick of Carthage, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Wayne, and one sister, Opal.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. A.D. Pringle of Ottumwa Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery, where military services will be in charge of the American Legion.
Pallbearers will be Norman, Melvin, Phillip, Tom, and George Brumbaugh, and Wilford Morrow.
