Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Tuesday, October 4, 1927:

John D. Davis, 621 West Mary street, died at 6 a.m. today at his home. He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife, Mary E., five children, Frances Davis, Genevieve Davis, of Chicago; Ruth, Vina and Don, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Carol Roy, of Handen, Mo., and Mrs. Mary A. Swetnam, of Orange, Calif. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

The funeral of John D. Davis will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the home, 621 West Mary street. The Rev. L.H. Lanning of the Willard street Methodist Episcopal church will be in charge and burial will be made in Shaul cemetery.
