Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Monday, March 22, 1920:

EDWARD GILLASPIE

Edward Gillaspie, formerly of this city, died Friday afternoon at Ottumwa, S.D. Mr. Gillaspie was born January 1, 1838, in Ireland. He is the uncle of Peter Gillaspie, who was brought here for burial from South Dakota a few weeks ago.

Mr. Gillaspie is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laurence Guggerty, of Chillicothe, and was preceded in death by a wife and two children.

The remains will arrive here tomorrow on No. 6, and will be taken to the Moroney Funeral Home. The funeral will be from there, at 8:30 o’clock, Wednesday morning, with services at St. Patrick’s church, at 9 o’clock with Reqieum [sic] mass, Rev. Henry Hogan, celebrant. Burial in Calvary cemetery.

“EDWARD GILLASPIE,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” Wednesday, March 24, 1920:

The arrival of the remains of Edward Gillaspie, former Ottumwan, who died Friday at Ottumwa, S.D., have been delayed by a wash-out at Salem, S.D. It was expected that the body would arrive in the city this afternoon and be taken to the Moroney Funeral home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 o’clock from Moroney’s Funeral home and at 9 o’clock from St. Patrick’s church with Rev. Father Henry Hogan, celebrant at the requiem high mass. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery.

The funeral services of Edward Gillaspie, a former Ottumwa, who died Friday at Ottumwa, S.D. were conducted this morning at 9 o’clock, at the St. Patrick’s church. Rev. Father Henry Hogan was the celebrant at reqiem [sic] high mass. Burial was made in the Calvary cemetery.
