Obituary From “Ottumwa Semi-Weekly Courier,” April 27, 1917:

Thomas C. Hall, son of Isaac and Elizabeth Hall, was born near Columbus City, Ia., November 11, 1839 where he grew to manhood. He enlisted in Company C, Fifth Iowa infantry, July 1, 1861 and mustered out December 31, 1863. He reenlisted in Company G, Fifth Iowa cavalry, January 1, 1864. After serving full time in the civil war he returned home August 11, 1865.

On August 18, 1865 he united in marriage with Indiana C. Ford at Winfield. To this union were born eight children, all of whom are living, Carrie Bell, of Sharon, Okla.; E.C. and F.J. Hall, Kline, Colo.; A.F. Hall of Rock Island Ill; Mrs. May Brown and Mrs. Hodson of Salem, Ia.; Mrs. Edith Santeen and Miss Iva Hall of Ottumwa. Besides his wife and family he leaves to mourn his loss, one brother and one sister, John Hall of Kansas City and Mrs. Harriet Rahmiller of Iowa City.

He confessed his faith in Chrit [sic] in early life and joined the Methodist and later transferred his membership to the Friends church of which he remained a member until death. His death took place at his home in Ottumwa, Sunday morning April 22, at 5 o’clock, at the age of 77 years 5 months and 11 days. Funeral services were held at his home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Johnathan Lee, with prayer by Rev. Wilson. Interment took place in the Shaul cemetery.–Contributed.
