Mary A. Flowers, 87, formerly of 507 Grant St., died Nov. 26, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Marian Baugh, in Blue Springs, Mo.

She was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Macon, Mo., to Ryland and Amanda Robue Green. She married Fred E. Flowers.

As a longtime maember of Second Baptist Church, she was involved in various ministries in the church. For over 50 years, she was a member of Esther Chapter of Eastern Star. While in Blue Springs, she attended Friendship Baptist Church. She was a CNA graduating from Indian Hills Community College at the top of her class and also as the oldest member of her class. Her goal was to take care of others in their homes. She loved to bake and give advice. She woke up every morning with a song, and there was never a dull moment in the household.

Survivors include three sons, Freddie L. Flowers of Las Vegas, Michael W. Flowers and Jeffrey E. Flowers of Ottumwa; two daughters, Marian(William)Baugh of Blue Springs, Mo., and Linda K. Reed of Chula Vista, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Second Baptist Church; with Pastor Leslie Buchanan officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Open visitation will be 9 am Thursday with the family present from 6-7:30 pm Thursday evening at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church.
