Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” August 30, 1921:

Mrs. Leona Belle Brooks, wife of J.T. Brooks, died at the family home, 422 South Moore street, at 5:30 o’clock this morning.

She was 49 years old. She is survived by her husband, two brothers, Sam and Newton Ehrhart of Mt. Pleasant, a sister, Mrs. Mary Clawson of Ottumwa and a half sister, Mrs. Anna Liblen, also of this city.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Davis Street Christian church. The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon from the residence with Rev. Isaac S. Bussing in charge. Burial will be made in Shaul cemetery.
