Johanna Gosney Dies Thursday At Local Hospital

Mrs. Johanna Gosney, 87, a resident of the Kaycee community for many years, died Thursday, Feb. 10, at Johnson County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Adams funeral home in Buffalo with the Rev. James Ruddy officiating. Burial was in Willow Grove cemetery.

At the services Mrs. Fred Nicholas sang “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Mrs. Martin Camino at the organ.

Mrs. Gosney was born Jan. 1, 1879, in Rock Island, Ill., and was married in 1901 at Ottumwa, Ia., to Rolly Gosney. Mr. and Mrs. Gosney moved to Buffalo in 1916 and lived here for one year before moving to Kaycee where they made their home for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1960, and by two children, Harold in 1938, and Hazel, in 1948.

Survivors include: four sons, Leo of Thermopolis, Raymond of Moorcroft, Elmer of Kaycee and Bill of Kaycee; three daughters, Mrs. Winnifred Hoosier of Edgemont, S. D., Mrs. Bertha Denny of Parkman, and Mrs. Dorothy Haines of Casper; and three brothers, John Sinskey, Norman Sinskey and Paul Sinskey, all of Ottumwa, Ia.

Serving as pallbearers were: Arley Taylor, Cliff Hanson, Babe Lund, Frank Eychaner, Jack Graham and John Haines.
