PLEASE NOTE: Aaron was disinterred at Shaul Cemetery on November 14, 1966, and reinterred at Elm Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum and Crematorium in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” August 1, 1966:

Aaron Melick, 61, a former Ottumwan, died at his home in Oak Park, Ill., Friday evening.

He was employed as an auditor for the Milwaukee Railroad and had worked Friday.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Griffin Melick, he was born here June 17, 1905 and was reared in Ottumwa. He had lived in Oak Park for more than 20 years. He was married in Chicago to Dorothy Patsy [sic-should be Patsey], also a former Ottumwan. She survives. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Katerine Riley of Clearview, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1938, and by an aunt, Miss Winifred Melick, an Ottumwa school teacher in 1946. Miss Melick reared him.

The body is being returned to the Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa.

The funeral for Aaron Melick, 61, former Ottumwan, who died Friday evening at his home in Oak Park, Ill., will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Jay Funeral Home. The Rev. Wallace Russell, pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o’clock tonight and Wednesday evening.
