Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” April 4, 1961:

Roy E. Clark, 75, of 914 Harding St., died at 4:45 a.m. today at the Ottumwa Hospital. He was taken ill Monday afternoon at his home and entered the hospital Monday evening.

He had been an employe of John Morrell & Co. for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1951.

He was born March 5, 1886, in Moulton, the son of Sherman and Katherine Davis Clark and had resided in Ottumwa for 36 years.

He was married in 1907 at Centerville to Edith Angst. She died Aug. 18, 1936. On May 6, 1950 at Memphis, Mo., he was married to Edith Thrasher, who suvives.

Besides his widow, survivors include two sons, Boyd Clark of Ottumwa and Merle Clark of Pueblo, Colo.; six daughters, Mrs. Mildred Dehart, Mrs. Esther Murphy, Mrs. Clela Brown and Mrs. Lora Totten, all of Ottumwa, Mrs. Frances Johnson of Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Pauline Rose of Blakesburg Route 2; two stepsons, George and Roy Thrasher of Ottumwa; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ethel Judge of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Catherine Humble of Bladensburg, and Mrs. Violet Shaw of Ottumwa; 32 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Clark of Floris; and three sisters, Mrs. Lena McGriff of Des Moines, Mrs. Gladys McCuen and Mrs. LaVona Dyer of Ottumwa.

A son, Delmer, three brothers and an infant daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. S.M. Abel, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
