G. C. PARKER.
George C., eldest son of Robert and
Mariah Parker, was born in Faseby,
Yorkshire, England, May 30, 1869.
Forty-three years ago he came with
his parents to America and located at
Avery, Iowa.
On November 21, 1899, he was united
in marriage with Mrs. Anna Laughead
Gillan. To this union were born two
sons, Clarence and Cecil. Mr. Parker
and family came to Ottumwa in 1904.
He had been in poor health for thir-
ty years, having been troubled with
asthma. For the last ten years he
was unable to follow any steady em-
ployment. Two weeks ago he began
to fail rapidly, and on the forenoon
of September 12, at his home, 402
Carlisle street, he passed from this
life. He was 55 years, 3 months and
12 days old.
He is survived by the widow and
sons, Clarence and Cecil, both of Ot-
tumwa; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hazel
Parker, wife of Clarence; a stepson,
Gale Gillan, and his wife Rose, and
four grandchildren, Marie and Irene
Parker and Chester and Russell Gil-
lan. He is also survived by his par-
ents, five brothers and two sisters,
Thomas, Joseph, John, Charles and
Robert, Jr., all of Ottumwa with the
except of John, who resides at Fort
Dodge, and the sisters, Mrs. Mike
Carr and Mrs. George Beddow, also of
Ottumwa.
Mr. Parker was baptized in the
Anglican church when a child. Dur-
ing the years of his sickness he had
been a patient suffered. He has en-
tered into his rest. The many friends
of the family extend sympathy to them
in their bereavement.
The funeral was held on Sunday aft-
ernoon at 2 o'clock at the family home,
Rev. L. H. Lanning having charge.
Interment was made in Shaul ceme-
