Hazel Sponsler

Former Ottumwan Hazel Sponsler, 88, died Dec. 12, 1985, in Des Moines, where she had lived for the past year.

She was born Nov. 7, 1897, in Highland Township to Charles and Ida McCance. A homemaker, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She married Fred Sponsler; he preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley McKeen of Des Moines and Mary Jo Shultz of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

The body has been cremated.

Dunnes Funeral Home of Des Moines is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service will be held later.

(Note: Hazel is buried in Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.)
