OBITUARY

Maria Jane Martin was born October 25, 1825, and died February 6, 1911, aged 86 years.
Maria J. Martin was married to James M. Smith, April 22, 1847. To this union were born ten children, four of whom are living, Mrs. Margaret Schwartz, Marion, Clayton and Alonzo Smith, who were present at her death. Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to Iowa in 1852 and settled In Wapello County, near Ottumwa, where they resided until death. The funeral service was held at the residence, Wednesday, February 8, 1911, conducted by E. A. Hastings of Bloomfield. Mrs. Smith became a member of the regular Baptist church of Christ of Brush Run, Campbell Co., Ky., and never united with any other church.
