WOMAN DIES FROM APOPLEXY MRS. EMMA CAROLINE M'CABE PASSED AWAY VERY SUDDENLY THIS MORNING.
Mrs. Emma Caroline McCabe, aged 52, a well-known resident of Ottumwa and a prominent lodge woman, died suddenly this morning at 6 o'clock at her home, 548 West Second street from a stroke of apoplexy. Mrs. McCabe suffered from a headache last night and when her neighbor Mrs. John Adams, stopped at the McCabe home to get Mrs. McCabe to accompany her to the Yeomen’s lodge, as was the custom each Wednesday night, she declined the invitation, stating that she was-not feeling well. Mrs. McCabe appeared well to her husband when he arrived this morning at 2 o'clock off his run as engineer on the "Southwest Limited" on the Milwaukee. She opened the door for him. He stated that at one time while in bed her hand struck him on the head but he thought nothing of the matter as he was very sleepy. Later on he noticed that his wife was suffering from great pains, and hurriedly dressing he rushed to a nearby physician for medical assistance. When the doctor arrived the woman was dead. Her death was pronounced by the physician as caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral announcement will be made later.
