Former City Policeman Dies Today
Nels Nelson, 72, a former Ottumwa policeman and a resident here for the last 55 years died at his home, 112 S. Moore St., at 8:55 AM today. He was the son of Peter and Nellie Nelson and was born in Sweden September 14, 1863. He came to the United States when he was seven years of age, settling in Mount Pleasant. For 16 years he served on the Ottumwa police force. Surviving are his wife, Mina; four sons, Wallace, Henry, Hugh and Nels, Jr, all of Ottumwa; one sister Miss Jennie Nelson of Milaca, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Mrs. Ida Kielkoph of Ottumwa, and Lawrence Nelson of Ottumwa; one nephew, Albert Nelson of Milaca, Minnesota, and one great grandchild, Lawrence Nelson Jr, of Ottumwa. Friends may call at Johnson's funeral Chapel awaiting completion of funeral arrangements.
