Edwin Downey, 57 of 525 Lorella Street, died at the Ottumwa hospital Friday at 3:50 PM. He was a son of William M. and Bell Downey and was born in Davis County November 21, 1878. He lived in Ottumwa for the last 22 years. Surviving are his wife Jessie, two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Shelton of Ottumwa and Barbara at home; one son, Oakley of Detroit Michigan; two grandsons, Densel and Rex Shelton; a stepmother, Mrs. Emma Dorothy of Albia; a sister, Mrs. A. J. Boyd of Fairfield; two brothers, W. M. Downey of Ottumwa and Clarence E. of Newark, New Jersey; one step sister, Mrs. M. E. Dunham of Ottumwa, and one stepbrother, Orvill Troxel of Eldon. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's funeral Chapel Sunday at 10 AM conducted by the Rev. Roy C. Leeds. Burial be made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
