Mrs. Lorena Millard, 73, Had Lived In County For Last Fifty-Five Years.
Mrs. Lorena Millard, 73, for the last 55 years a Wapello county resident, died suddenly at her home, 126 N. Moore St., today at 3:15 AM. She was the wife of George Millard. Mrs. Millard was the daughter of Sanford and Mary Ross and was born in Hardensville, Kentucky, January 13, 1863. For the last 20 years she had lived in Ottumwa and was a member of the Pleasant Home church. Surviving are her husband, George; four daughters, Mrs. Vesteen Knox and Mrs. Exie Pat Schwartz of Ottumwa and Mrs. Elizabeth Shields of Farson; five sons, Herbert and Harold of Ottumwa, Spencer of Des Moines, Oliver of Blakesburg and Ira of Ottumwa route 5; one brother, Abner Ross of Missouri; 37 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children. Short funeral services will be held at the home, 126 N. Moore St., Sunday at 2 PM and at 3 PM at the Pleasant Home church, conducted by the Rev. Luther Childs of Centerville, assisted by the Rev. E. K. Parrot of Pleasant Home. Burial be made in the Brooks cemetery. The body will removed to the home this evening.
