Mrs. Ellen Brady Dies Here Today
Well Known Ottumwa Woman Has Resided In City More Than Half Century
Mrs. Ellen Brady, 76, widow of Hugh Brady, died at 12:55 AM today at her home, 1017 E. Plum St. after a long illness. She was born in Lynntone, Connecticut, November 12, 1862, the daughter of John and Margaret Welch. She came to Iowa when an infant and settled in Monroe County, coming to Ottumwa more than 50 years ago. She was married to Hugh Brady October 2, 1884, in St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Father Kreckel. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Anna Anderson of Burlington and Misses Margaret, Catherine, Rosa and Theresa Brady, all at home, and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church the Altar and Rosary Society. Funeral services will be held at 8 AM Wednesday at the home and at 9 AM at Sacred Heart church. Requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. J. R. Courtney. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Members of the Altar and Rosary Society will meet at the home Tuesday at 8 AM to recite the Rosary. The body was taken to the home at 4 PM today.
