Former Local Resident Dies

George Ferguson, 75, former Fairfield resident, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack Thursday morning at his home in Mount Vernon.

Ferguson had made his home with a son, Donald Ferguson, in Mount Vernon. Services will be held there tonight at 8 o'clock at the Morgan Funeral Home. Graveside rites will be conducted by Philip E. Young of Fairfield Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Ferguson was born Aug. 4, 1897 in Pocahontas. He spent most of his life in Ottumwa where he operated a service station for several years.

Ferguson moved to Fairfield in 1960, making his home with his son, Charles Ferguson, for about 10 year. While in Fairfield, he operated the Mostly Pizza Restaurant.

Surviving are two sons, Donald of Mount Vernon and Charles of Wahoo, Neb., and eight grandchildren.
