Veteran Morrell Man Dies Monday
John A. Harry Suffers Heart Attack While Mowing Grass; With Firm Half Century.
John Allen Harry, 69, a veteran employee of John Morrell & Co. died Monday at 4 PM in his home in Riverview addition after suffering a heart attack while mowing the grass. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Harry was born April 16, 1867 at Brooklyn, Iowa the son of Elisha and Sarah Jane Harry. He came to Ottumwa as a lad of 12, entering the Morrell service when he was 15. He was retired November 1, 1935 after more than half a century of service. On October 18, 1888, he was married to Flora M. Farrington here. Surviving are the wife, Flora M.; one daughter, Vesta of Ottumwa; five sons, Frank A., Lawrence and Tillman, all of Ottumwa, and Willis and John Jr, both of Topeka, Kansas and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 PM in the Drake funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. C. A. Field. Burial be in Memorial Lawn cemetery the body will be at the Drake Chapel tonight and Wednesday morning, where friends may call.
