J. F. McCartney Dies At Age 76
Was Resident Of Ottumwa For The Last 37 Years; Funeral Tuesday.
John F. McCartney, 76, died at his home, 809 E. William St., Sunday at 2:50 AM. He lived in Ottumwa for the last 37 years. Mr. McCartney was the son of James and Ann McCartney and was born in Illinois, August 14, 1859. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Flossie Logan of Ottumwa; a son, John J. of Ottumwa and brother, Robert L., of Houston, Texas. Mr. McCartney was a member of M. W. A. No. 1740, and The Davis St., Christian church. Short funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 PM Tuesday and at 2 PM at the Davis St., Christian church conducted by the Rev. Roy C. Leads burial be made in Shaul cemetery. The body was taken to the residence at 4 PM today.
