FAIRCHILD dies at 83

George E. Fairfield (sic: FAIRCHILD), 83, of Ottumwa died July 6 in Ottumwa Hospital.

The service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa with the Rev. James Dendler officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery with military rites.

A masonic service will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorials are to the Iowa Heart Association.

Fairchild was born Feb. 2, 1896 in Packwood, the son of Benjamin and Margaret SANCHEZ FAIRCHILD. He married Mabel M. GANTZ on Nov. 26, 1919.

He was a retired carpenter who had lived in Ottumwa area since 1926. He was a World War I veteran.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 21 in Agency, Barracks 1910 of Veterans of World War I and Carpenter's Union Local 767.

He is survived by his wife and a brother, Bertram FAIRCHILD, Fremont, a sister-in-law, Kathaleen McCULLOUGH, Logan Apts., and a nephew, Bert FAIRCHILD also of Fairfield.

Mrs. Fairchild resides at 426 S. Pocahontas, Ottumwa.
