Mrs. Martha Hathaway
Mrs. Martha Eldora Hathaway, 70, wife of Frank W. Hathaway, died at her home, 1306 E. 2nd St., Sunday at 4:45 AM. She was born in Jewett, Ohio, February 8, 1866. Since 1901 she had been a resident of Ottumwa. She was an active member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, the Pythian sisters, the Eastern Star and White Shrine. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Stanley, of Newton; one daughter, Mrs. Alice Riffle of Agency; one sister, Mrs. Ida J. Hinkle of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Arnott Johnston of Denver and Arthur of Salt Lake City, Utah, and one granddaughter, Betty Ann Riffle of Agency. Funeral services will be held at the Lester Jay funeral home at 2 PM Tuesday conducted by the Rev. Harold Lancaster, D. D. The Pythian Sisters will have services. Burial be made in the Memorial Lawn cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clyde Meiers, George Howell, J. E. Smith, W. S. Druett, T. E. Payne and Cleo Haynes. The body will be at the home tonight where friends may call.
