70 Year Resident Of County Dies
Mrs. Martha Sheets Succumbs At Hospital Sunday; Funeral Is Tuesday.
Mrs. Martha Sheets, 74, a resident of Keokuk Township, Wapello County, for the last 70 years, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 11 AM Sunday. She was the widow of Frank Sheets, Ottumwa route 6. Mrs. Sheets was born June 4, 1861 in Missouri, the daughter of Abigah and Sarah Galland. Surviving are two sons, O. C. Sheets of Ottumwa, and Earl of Ottumwa, route 6; two daughters, Mrs. Myrl Wilford of Ottumwa and Miss Opal Sheets, Ottumwa route 6; one sister, Mrs. Carol Stocker of California; two brothers Lafe Galland of Greenwood, Wisconsin, and Willis of South Dakota; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1931. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 PM at Johnson's funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. A. D. McClure. Burial will be in McIntire cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
