Ottumwa Courier February 17, 1936

Mrs. Ellestine Wiggins, 72, wife of Charles Wiggins, died at her home 136 N. Washington St., Saturday at 11 PM. She was the daughter of Jacob and Kisey Dowers and was born in Ohio, March 6, 1863. She had lived in Ottumwa for the last 12 years. She was the member of the Eldon Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband Charlie; a son, Harvey Courtney of Middletown; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Wilcox and Mrs. Grace Bertroche, both of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Jessie Cowger of Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Sam Dowers of San Diego, California, Sigel of York, Nebraska, and William of Chugwater, Wyoming; one sister, Mrs. Phoebe Myler of Leon; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur, and a daughter, Stella. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 PM at the Johnson funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Luther Childs. Centerville. Burial be made in the Agency cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
