Former Federal Marshal Is Dead
Thomas B. Logan, Well-Known As Peace Officer Here, Succumbs Friday Night.
Thomas B. Logan, 64, former U. S. deputy marshal for the southern Iowa district, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. F. Bates on Mowery Ave., Friday at 7 PM. Mr. Logan served as federal marshal during 1929, 1930, 1931 and 1932. He was also a candidate for Wapello County Sheriff. He was the son of Andrew and Julia Logan and was born at Gladstone, Illinois, January 22, 1872. Surviving are his wife, Jessie; three daughters, Mr. Bates and Mrs. John Scully both of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Andrew Wenkel of Glencoe, Illinois; three sons, Charles, Clarence and Everett all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Alward of San Francisco California, Mrs. Lou O'Donnell of Colman, South Dakota, and Mrs. Eliza Roberts of Ventia, California; two brothers, Joseph of Oquawka, Illinois, and John of Quincy, Illinois, and nine grandchildren. One son preceded him in death. Friends may call at Johnson's funeral Chapel until 11 AM Sunday, when the body will be removed to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bates. Short services were held there Monday at 8:30 AM and at nine o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. B. J. Decker will celebrate the high Requiem mass. Burial be made in the Calvary cemetery.
