Ottumwan Was In Cigar And Grocery Business For Many Years.
Joseph Lester Gossage, 56, died today at 12:55 AM at the home, 1310 East 2nd St. Besides his wife, Lydia, he is survived by one son, Vernon, and one daughter, Ardis, both of Ottumwa; his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Gossage of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Allen Duckworth and Mrs. Theresa Martin, both of Ottumwa; three brothers, Douglas of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Grover, Tampa Florida, and Harry Gossage of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and three grandchildren, he was born in Ottumwa and was in the cigar business for 17 years here. He operated retail grocery store for 22 years. He was a member of the Ottumwa lodge No. 16, A. F. & A. M., A. O. U. W. lodge No. 227, and the East End Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. The body was taken to the Lester Jay funeral home.
