Walter D. Spurlock, 51 of 248 South Moore street, dropped dead while walking near the corner of Main and Court streets at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Coroner Gordon Traul said the death was due to natural causes. He was the son of Charles H. Spurlock and Anna Spurlock, born in Ottumwa June 9, 1894. He had lived in Ottumwa all of his life. Surviving are two brothers, Paul H. of Ottumwa and Charles B. of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. Helen Jones of Ottumwa and Mrs. Blanche Mosley of Waterloo. Two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. Bruce Matthews of Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
