Lewis boy Dies of Street Flare Burns
Burns sustained September 3, while he was playing with a street-repair signal proved fatal at 11:10 a. m. today to Donald W. Lewis, 7 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Osie Lewis of 1313 Orchard street. Death occurred at the Ottumwa hospital where the lad had been a patient since shortly after the mishap near his home. He and a playmate had picked up an oil torch when the top came loose and the burning oil ran over is clothing. Besides his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hewitt, San Antonio, Texas and Vera Florence and Vernadine Lewis all at home; three brothers, Pat Osie Lewis Jr. in the army and Robert and Gene at home and his grandparents, Eli Lewis, Selma and Mrs. Jacob Beaver, Harvey.
