John E. Hudgens 87, died at the Rest Haven home 320 West Pershing avenue, Sunday at 9:58 a.m. He was the son of Henry and Susan Hudgens and was born in Davis County, June 5, 1859. He has been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 17 years and is the last member of a family of eight children. Survivors are five sons, Evan E. and Jimmie D. both of Ottumwa. Howard H. of Davenport, Henry of Kansas City and P. J. Hudgens of the U. S. Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Hamilton of Ottumwa and Mrs. Susie Kametz of Albia; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah and one son. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Harold Roberts of the First Christian church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
