Rex C., Daugherty, 71, of Ottumwa Route 4, died at 1:38 p.m. December 5, 1987 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, 1001 E. Pennsylvania Ave. He was born January 27, 1916 in Floris, Iowa to John and Lala Conner Daugherty. A self-employed trucker and Army veteran of World War II, he lived in Ottumwa most of his life. He married Mary Tray on November 3, 1952 in Ottumwa. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Janet Daugherty of Ottumwa Route 4, and a sister, Ila Mae Dent of Sturgeon, Missouri. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Reverend Paul C. Hart officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Reece Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home from seven to 8:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Leo Barnes, Henry, Jean and Jack Shoemaker, John Griffin and John Berger. A memorial has been established to the family.
