Died: November 18 1954

In Post Office 43 Years
James P. Tray, 65, above, retired post office employee, of 209 North Fellows Ave, died at
5:23 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph’s Hospital. A resident of Ottumwa, since he was 2 years old, Tray had served 43 years as a post office clerk until his retirement in 1950. He was born August 31, 1888 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Julia Fogarty Tray, and was married June 21, 1914 to Jennie Ryan who survives him. His other survivors include three children, Mrs. Rex Daugherty of Sturgeon, Missouri, and Mrs. John Link and Francis Tray, both of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: John Tray, Los Angeles; Francis Tray, Salt Lake City; Robert Tray, Mrs. Peter Schmitz and Mary Tray, all of Ottumwa. Tray was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, General Shields Council, Number 588 and the Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the United National Association of Post Office Clerks. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Vaughn Funeral Chapel and at 9 o’clock at Sacred Heart Church, where the Reverend Leonard Brugman will celebrate a Requiem High Mass. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
