Serene Cromwell PUMPHREY, father of F. F. PUMPHREY and Mrs. J. J. ACTON of near Eldon, died at Carhthage, Ill., and was brought to Eldon for burial Thursday. At the time of his death Mr. PUMPHREY was 94 years of age. A son, Dr. G. E. PUMPHREY accompanied the remains to this city. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church and interment was made in the Eldon Cemetery. (Birthplace of Licking Co., Ohio, from the 1875 Atlas of Iowa; came to Iowa in 1844.)
