JACOB MINCKS

Jacob B. Mincks, 68, of 720 N. Foster died at 12:30 p.m. Dec 17 in Ottumwa Hospital.

He was born Aug. 26, 1913 in Davis County to Joseph and Susan Squires Mincks. A retired employee of John Deere Ottumwa works, he had served two terms in the Iowa Senate from Wapello County starting in 1958, had held various offices, including president in Local No. 74 UAW, and was former vice-president of Iowa Federation of Labor. He was a member of the local Eagles Lodge and married Mildred Cottrell Aug. 31, 1935 in Ottumwa.

Survivors: his wife; a son Larry J. of Ottumwa; a daughter Linda J. Grant of Des Moines; a brother Thomas of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; and sisters Florence Morrison of Moberly, Mo., and Olive Baxter of Eureka, Calif.

Survices: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. George King, Evangelistic Foursquare Church officiating.

Burial: Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Kenneth Anderson, Vernon Breeding, Harley Ward, Charles Dorn, Jim Yenger, and Wayne Parker.

The casket will be closed at the beinning of the service.
