DRAKESVILLE - Opal V. Long, 79 of Drakesville Route 1 died July 6, 1994, at Davis County Hospital Long-term Care.
She was born April 23, 1915, in Appanoose County near Mystic to Henry and Clara Smith Selix. She married Allen Long on Nov. 2, 1932 in Bloomfield.
A lifelong resident of Davis County, she was a member of Ash Grove Christian Church, affiliated with Drakesville United Methodist Church and Drakesville United Methodist Church Quilters.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Janet Woolard of Bloomfield, Nancy Newcomb of Muscatine and Garnet Jones of Mesa, Ariz; two sons, Richard of Drakesville and Kenneth of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Selix of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Donna Long; two grandsons; and a stepgrandson.
The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home in Bloomfield, the Rev. Don Macy of Drakesville Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Drakesville Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after noon today at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bruce and Larry Long, Brian and Todd Cantril, Brad Woolard and Bill Hagenhoff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lori Hagenhoff and Susan Long.
Memorials may be made to Davis County Hospital Long-term Care Unit and may be left at the funeral home.
