FARMINGTON - Funeral services for Hugh Poe, 79, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Clements funeral home in Ft. Madison, with the Rev. Robert Swick officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Poe died November 3 at the home of a son, Clarence Poe, near Ft. Madison, where he had been cared for since last August. He was a pioneer farmer who had lived most of his life several miles southwest of Farmington. Ill health forced him to retire from the farm early last summer.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lydia Christy Poe, and two sons, Clarence of near Ft. Madison and Elmer Poe of Gatesburg, Ill. and two daughters, Mrs. Edna Green of Spangle, Wash., and Mrs. Laverne Teeter of Seattle Wash., 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nephews and nieces.
